What is godliness with contentment, why is it great gain and how do we pursue it? A godly person is characterized by an attitude of wanting to Know God intimately and to please God and desiring to grow in Christlikeness. Contentment involves accepting from God the circumstances in which He has placed us, because we know that His presence, provision, and providence are sufficient to enable us to face any situation. One of the distinguishing traits of a godly person is contentment. In fact, the Bible teaches that godliness must be accompanied by contentment in order to bring great gain to us.
