I Am the Resurrection and the Life

I Am the Resurrection and the Life

A reporter was interviewing an old man on his 100th birthday.  “What are you most proud of?” he asked. “Well,” said the man, “I don’t have an enemy in the world.”  “What an encouraging and inspirational thought!” said the reporter. “Yep,” added the man, “outlived every last one of them.”  We each have an enemy that we cannot outlive. It takes no prisoners.  It has no favorites.  It is no respecter of age.  It doesn’t care about the color of your skin.  It is not
swayed by your financial portfolio or your educational degrees. It chases after each one of us. That enemy is death.  In this week’s passage we look at Jesus declaration that He is the Resurrection and Life.  Fixing our eyes on earthly things can be futile and so God calls us to fix our eyes on Him.
