After you’ve been in the faith awhile it can be easy for pride to sneak into our hearts. This passage makes it clear that God’s grace has come to us, not through anything that we have done, but rather, through Jesus’ blood. We who were once far off and alienated from God, have been brought near to Him and given hope.
