Pastor Scott Pearson

Senior Pastor

Pastor Scott has been married to Beth since 1974. They met at the University of Iowa at a Campus Crusade for Christ retreat. After marriage they moved to the Twin Cities where Scott attended Bethel Seminary and graduated with an M.Div. in 1978. Beth also earned a Master’s degree during those years.

Scott pastored Ely Baptist Church near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in NE Minnesota from 1978 until 1991. Their three daughters were born in Ely: Erika (1980), Jill (1982), and Emily (1984). Those were wonderful years raising a family and serving a loving congregation in a beautiful setting of God’s creation. The Pearson girls benefited from growing up in such a beautiful and loving environment nurtured by such a wise and devoted mother.

Scott pastored Grace Baptist Church in Tracy, CA from 1991 to 1994. Those were hard years that ended painfully. Scott learned some hard lessons from some financial failures and painful experiences and took with him to Iowa a saying that is repeated following every Communion service at Cornerstone: “I am totally accepted, fully pleasing, deeply loved, completely forgiven, and empowered to live a new life in Christ because of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus.”

Scott and Beth and family moved back to Davenport, Iowa (where Beth grew up) in the summer of 1994 – hurting and without a job. God graciously led this “vulnerable family” to Cornerstone shortly thereafter. “After great pain, a new life emerges.” The Pearsons have thrived at Cornerstone and in the North Scott area and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings.

Erika graduated from Bethel College and lives in Denver with her husband, Kyle, and two sons and two daughters (age 4 and under). Kyle is a pastor and graduate of Denver Seminary. Jill graduated from Iowa State and lives in Des Moines with her husband, Peter, and a daughter and two sons (age 4 and under). Peter is an Iowa State grad who works as an engineer with John Deere and has strong teaching gifts. Emily is an Iowa Hawkeye who married an Iowa baseball player (like her mom did). Mike (Mo) has worked with college students to help them in their spiritual development. Mo and Emily and their children (now two sons and two daughters, age 5 and under) then followed God’s call to a small country in SE Asia where he has started a CrossFit business. Scott and Beth now have 6 grandsons and 5 granddaughters.

In addition to enjoying their grandchildren, Scott and Beth enjoy hikes in the woods with their dog, traveling, restaurants, movies, BBC videos, reading, gardening, museums and occasionally some skiing. Scott also enjoys sports and trout fishing and mission trips.

Pastor Steffan Nass

Associate Pastor

Steffan has taken a very non-traditional route in becoming Cornerstone’s Associate Pastor.  After earning his B.S. in Mathematics from Iowa State University in 1986, he moved to South Florida, and began working as a high school math teacher and football coach.  It was during this time that he met, and immediately fell in love with, his wife-to-be, Sandy.  They married in 1990.

Pastor Steffan & Sandy

In 1996 Steffan left teaching and began serving as a Special Agent with the FBI.  Originally stationed in Miami, he later was transferred to the Springfield Division.  Although his work took him across the country, and around the globe, his most memorable moment in the FBI was when he was introduced to, and immediately fell in love with, the person of Jesus Christ.

Steffan retired from the FBI in 2016 and joined the staff at Cornerstone immediately thereafter.

Steffan and Sandy have five children – three domestic and two imported.  Caitlyn (born 1993) currently attends Iowa State with her husband, Nate Coonts, and is studying dietetics.  Nate is studying history after completing a four-year stint in the U.S. Navy.  Abby (born 1996) studied for two years at Iowa State, but has taken a year off to work as a missionary in Central America, Africa and Southeast Asia.  Connor (born 1998) will enter the Marine Corps following his high school graduation.  Kizza David (born 2001) and Kaggwa Francis (born 2003) were adopted in 2013 from Uganda.

Steffan is currently enrolled at the Wesleyan Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University.  He desires to follow hard after Christ with reckless obedience.

Pastor Drew Webb

Worship Pastor

Pastor Drew has been married to his wonderful wife, Luvy Ann, for more than 10 years. They have 2 children, Aria and Micah. On any given Sunday they are in various stages of taking over the platform and playing various instruments and/or singing! They certainly keep Drew and Luvy Ann busy.

Pastor Drew received his B.A. in Intercultural Communication at California State University-Sacramento, CA. A few years later he began his Seminary work and graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (located in one of the most beautiful places in the world!) with a Masters of Divinity. He had begun serving as a volunteer worship leader in 2000 when his father started a new church and needed a worship leader. That opportunity shaped Pastor Drew to be the father, husband, leader, and worshipper that he is today. After 10 years of service to First Family Church God moved Drew to another place of ministry…Cornerstone Baptist Church. He and his family arrived here in Eldridge, Iowa on February 2nd, 2011, the day after the largest single blizzard in Iowa history.

Drew’s hobbies are music, cycling, and CrossFit. Though he does not enjoy running in the least bit he can occasionally be seen running around the streets of Eldridge.  Cycling is the exercise that he most enjoys and which gets him in the outdoors and provides the opportunity to communicate with God out in His creation.  In spite of this, it is CrossFit, that gets the bulk of Drew’s workout time these days.

His passion is to help people experience God. This happens in the music that is played and sung on the platform of Cornerstone, as well as in the occasional preaching of a sermon or teaching a class. Helping people know God and worship Him with all that they are is of the utmost importance to Pastor Drew and is at the heart of his ministry philosophy.
